Bobbi Ann Brady is the Independent MPP for Haldimand-Norfolk. As she explains, she went to Queen's Park under no party banner, something that hadn't been done in Ontario since 1905.
I don't normally talk a lot of politics in my content, so this was a chance for me to learn.
What we talked about
- What "independent" really means. The difference between an MPP elected without a party and members who sit as independents because their party doesn't have official status.
- Running without a party. How a modern independent campaign works compared to the party system.
- How a bill moves. Readings, debate hours and the process at Queen's Park.
- Her background. Bobbi Ann talks about being a single mom and living paycheque to paycheque, and how that shapes her view of taxpayer money.
Whatever your politics, it's an interesting look at how things work. Thank you, Bobbi Ann.
