Dean Allison is the Conservative Member of Parliament for Niagara West, and he's practically my neighbour, about ten minutes away. We'd met a couple of times and I've enjoyed getting to know him. As always, I'm upfront about my limited politics knowledge, and people like Dean are helping me learn.
What we talked about
- His time in politics. Dean first ran in 2000 and has represented the area under a few riding names since.
- Government and business. Why getting things done on time and on budget is so hard in government.
- Immigration. A balancing act, and how we each think about it.
- How a bill becomes law. From the House to the Senate to Royal Assent.
Dean came back in 2025 for a second conversation. Thanks for coming in, Dean.
