Charlie Muscarella of Muscarella's Pizzeria

When I do pizza reviews I like to suggest what would make a pizza even better after I give my score. I gave Muscarella's Pizzeria an 8.4 and said I'd like to see a little more sauce. That's when Charlie, the owner, reached out, and the way he handled it really impressed me.

About Muscarella's

Muscarella's has two locations in Western New York: Williamsville and Lancaster. I reviewed the Lancaster location. Charlie brought a fresh pie up to Wainfleet for the podcast (minus one slice, Alright Robyn's tax).

What we talked about

• Taking feedback well. Why Charlie embraced the review instead of getting upset.
• Would the score change? We re-tasted on camera. Charlie's pie had travelled an hour, which is always tough on pizza.
• Pizza styles. New York style, Buffalo style and wood-fired. Keep it simple: a little salt, a little basil.
