Happenings Podcast with Leanna Villella

This week on the Happenings Podcast is Leanna Villella, Regional Councillor for Welland and the pioneer behind the popular annual Welland Float Fest. She's as passionate about Welland as it gets, and it pours out in this conversation.

What we talked about

• Her new role. Leanna started as Regional Councillor in December, for a four-year term.
• Amalgamation rumours. What could happen to Niagara's municipalities, and why what's right for the region as a whole may not be right for places like Wainfleet or Lincoln.
• Funding big projects. How major regional projects get paid for without putting all of it on taxpayers.
• The travel business. Leanna's career in travel, surviving industry bankruptcies, and her favourite destinations.
• My reviews. I shared why I've stopped stressing about good or bad reviews: either way, the business gets a moment in the spotlight and a chance to shine.

Leanna is one of the people who got me interested in following local politics. Thanks for joining me.
