How to Achieve Your New Year's Resolution (Week 47)
Is your New Year's resolution to lose weight, start working out, or start your own Health Happenings? I'm on Week 47 of mine. This past week was Christmas, and I'm sure it did some damage. I'm actually worried to get on the scale.
Where I was a year ago
Before I started this journey I was 250-plus pounds and hadn't taken my health seriously in about a decade. I turned it around 47 weeks ago, and now I feel way better. More energy, more productive, and I feel great. It all started with a kick-start from Zac Spinosa.
Start small, then improve
You don't have to start where I am now. Maybe an hour of walking a day is too much. So start with 10 minutes a day. After a week or so, go to 15 or 20. Keep making improvements and eventually you're walking an hour a day.
What I've found is that good decisions lead to more good decisions. Keep making small improvements and after a few weeks, a few months, 47 weeks, you'll find yourself in a much better place.
Do the same with food
You don't have to jump straight to quinoa and carrots. Maybe you start by eliminating takeout one more night a week, or putting less cream and sugar in your coffee. Have one less slice of pizza or one less handful of fries. Then keep improving.
Exercise once a day
I'm no health expert, but I've found that exercising at least once a day is key for me. Whatever that looks like for you, make it daily.
Where I am now
Even after Christmas, I'm still down about 65 pounds over this whole journey. I'm focused on my health and I know I'll get back down a couple more pounds. Do you have a resolution to improve your health this year? Let me know. I'd love to help.
