Plant-Based Diet: My 30 Day Review
Plant-Based Diet: My 30 Day Review
It's been 25 days since I decided to focus on a whole food, plant-based diet. Now you might say, "Joey, you're full of it. I see you eating pizza almost every day." You see me eating pizza when I review it. But outside of reviews, I've eliminated almost everything that isn't whole food and plant-based.
Why I switched
I got totally inspired by How Not to Die by Dr. Greger. The book talks about the benefits of a whole food, plant-based diet and how it may help you live longer and lower your odds of serious disease. My focus has shifted from just losing weight to being as healthy as possible for a long, happy life.
The weigh-in
After 25 days we're down to 174.8 pounds, a couple of pounds lower. I don't actually want to go much further down from here. Maybe a few more pounds. Weight isn't the main goal anymore.
How do I feel?
I expected cravings, or less energy, or some kind of downside from cutting things out. Honestly, we both feel great. Alright Robyn has been doing it with me, and at the end of 30 days we both want to keep going. I'm still exercising about five times a week.
Why not?
We're not doing this to save the planet, even though we love animals. We're doing it for our health. If it may help lower our odds of disease, and we don't feel like we're missing out, why not?
This lifestyle isn't for everyone. In our Health Happenings group on Facebook, some people are plant-based and some aren't. Everyone's at a different stage, and that's the point. Find what works for you.
